Surprise!

I have yet to finish catching up due to really a bad migraine. I woke up this morning to such pain that I let the kids stay home without much of a fight. They were all feeling a little under the weather due to all the wind, and we just took it easy. I helped a friend get the battery for her car replaced and took all the cookies that I had left to my brother to sell at his work. Lauren has sold 252 cookies as of today and this weekend we have table top sales as well as asking for a case of each type to sell around the neighborhood. She is doing so very good! The rest of my week has been a blur so good luck getting more info.

Please watch my sister's blog to hear about her boys' drama. O.K., I'll tell you. It seems that Leslie had asked little c to pick up the phone in one room and bring it to her. Somehow he handed it to j and went to Leslie in the other room while j spoke to Leslie on to extension. When little c came into the bedroom, Leslie gave the other phone to him so he could talk to j on the extension. Little c tells j that he and Daddy had gone to the office today. J gets really upset that c and C got to go to the office without him even though c had JUST handed him the phone. Leslie cannot explain to j what is going on because she is laughing so hard, He just didn't get it!!
Too funny.

Catching up

It has been a while for me. I know that I said that I would be the one to keep up. When you hear what has been going on, you will understand.

Lets's work backwards.......
Teacher Appreciation lunch I watched Lauren's class and we had a blast. We watched a movie about Ponds and Rivers, we made a surprise for the teacher, I had printed off several activities from Crayola.com ( this is a great free website), and I read two books. The kids were very good. Alex stayed home because of a cough from his allergies. The wind is VERY strong here the past few days and it has really kicked a lot of stuff up. Lauren fell while trying to escape a spanking for yelling at me and hit her head on the floor. Both of them received allergy meds and Lauren had to take some Motrin. We read books and they went to bed. Clark is helping a friend of mine put in her baseboards before the leasing agent comes tomorrow. He is such a sweatheart (pun intended). I have had a migraine since Sunday and I am hoping it will go away soon. A week is the longest that I have had one and I ended up in bed.

Yesterday I met my brother to give him some Girl Scout cookies that he is getting orders for at his work. Lauren had sold about 220 boxes. Yea, her!! I helped my friend clean her house for the above mentioned leasing agent visit.

Monday was Alex's 5th birthday. He opted for apples and cheese istead of cupcakes for his class. I hunted school supplies for Aaron and his new Spanish class. Do you know that you cannot find a pencil bag unless you go to an office supply store? I had a gift card at Target and I ended up spening it on the kids. I told Alex that if he had a good day at school, he could have a pirate something. He told me today that he did not have a bad day at school today so he could get a pirate toy. I explained to him that he had to actually go to school and have a good day before he could get his surprise. But you can't blame the boy for trying! Monday night was the Girl Scout recruitment at Lauren's school, so we were there. We actually sold 5 boxes of cookies that night. Yea, Lauren!! That afternoon we spent the entire time playing with his two cousins who will be 5 in April. It is hard to think of him being so old!

Sunday I recovered from Alex's Safari party. We went to church and the kids went to Sunday school. We came home and Lauren, Aaron and I went to see Alvin and The Chipmonks at the theater. It was cute! That night, we watched part of a Jeff Dunham DVD. Aaron was laughing until he could not breathe.

Saturday was the party. Alex chose a Safari theme. I need to post some pictures when I finally get them developed. We had a tree and a cave and binoculars and a safari hunt with a field journal. We had soo much noise! My friend made the cake in the shape of a mountain with 24 of the biggest cupcakes I have ever seen. Each one had a jungle animal on it. Clark and Aaron made a fantabulous cave that stood for several days. I spent the last few minutes looking foa a tiger and zebra. My parents helped tremendously!! Without their help, I could not have had this done in time.

I find that I am falling asleep at the keyboard, so I will finish this tomorrow....

Girl Scout Cookies

Its that time of year that we all love. Just after we try to set resolutions to change the way we eat, it is Girl Scout Cookie time!!

This is our first year to actually sell cookies. Lauren is a first year Brownie and she is VERY excited to be able to sell. We went to the zoo to get our 10 cases to get started early. That very afternoon we went around the neighborhood and she managed to sell 30 boxes in just under two hours. The next day we came down with an ear infection and we have not been able to sell any more because she wants to be the one to do it. More power to her!! She is very determined. I had to work hard to convince her to let my Dad take an order form to work with him to sell there.
We may not be the highest seller of the troop, but she will have done the majority of the work herself and isn't that what Girl Scouts are all about?? We are a little frustrated with our community leader about cookie sales. I just keep saying that this is definitely a learning experience for us and we will leave it at that. We will be so prepared for next year.

We are going today to talk to the community leader to what the plan is. We hope to start selling at a store on Monday.

January Birthdays

January 6th was mine and my mom's birthday. That's right, the same day. My husband took the two of us to the Melting Pot for dinner. I must tell you that it was great. The food was fantastic and there was a ton of i. Now, the price was high, but for a one time night out, it worked. The pictures from Christmas were part of my present as well. It was great. It would have been nice if Clark had helped the kids do something for me for my birthday, like a card of something, but I will talk to Aaron about it for next year. Lauren and I made a cake for Grandma with rainbow sprinkles and candles. We had a good time and the boys enjoyed licking the beaters.

Sunday, we went to Grandma's to celebrate. Heather was able to show up after work. We promptly had the fight about who got to sit next to Heather. She is such a rock star for the cousins. Clark had to go home early because work called. He was busy until around 9:30. I hope he finds another job for his sake. I know he is only putting up with all the crap because of the family. Please pray for him.

It is now Tuesday and we are VERY slowly getting back into a routine for school. Alex is not having any of it. He is upset all the way until he actually gets into his classroom when he sees his friends and all is okay. Lauren is really into school. She is officially in the Gifted and Talented program which is fantastic! And I am trying to keep up the resolutions about my house. I am caught up on laundry, well as much as possible with six people in one house. I always have at least one load going. I have even replaced all the sheets. Go, me!!

We are trying to plan Alex's party. It is coming up at the end of the month. I think it will be a pirate party. He seems to be still into them. Clark's 40th is on the 22nd. I think we will just go out to eat with his friends. I am going to call several places to see if they can give me any kind of break for a large party.

Right after that, Lauren will have her party. I am shooting for Fairies. The boys can be sparrow men. I'll let you know more later.

SCHOOL IS IN SESSION!!

The kids went back to school today!! I know they were nowhere near as happy as I was. I mean, I love having them home, but I am glad when they go back. Our school district is doing it great this year. The kids go back for Thursday and Friday and then get two days to recoup. Hopefully they are ready to go for the next week. That's the idea anyway. Heather woke up this morning and the house was quiet. She was pretty glad. Things went so smooth this morning and even the afternoon. I hoping to have turned over a new leaf. My friend says that it take two weeks to start a new habit. We'll see how long we can keep this up. The kids have put out their stuff for tomorrow and back packs are ready with folders filled out and everything. I am about to get into the shower and then I'll pack a lunch for Lauren and then go to bed myself. We are going to try to get up early tomorrow to see the meteor shower. I'll let you know how that goes.

Last One Standing

It seems that I am the only one of the group to keep up their blog. Is it because I am the only one not busy? Hardly!! Am I the only one that has stuff going on in their life? Puhlease!Maybe it is because I am the only one with a working computer... Well, that only works with my sister. I know... I just budget my time better. Yea, that's it...NOT,

Well, regardless of the reason, I will not give up! So here is my life this week....

New Year's Eve was spent at home with sick kids. Lauren was finally getting better after scaring us. She spent several nights with a humidifier in her room sitting up , sleeping in bed. Alex is down to just a slight runny nose. Aaron seems to be fighting whatever it is. Alex made it until around 10pm. Lauren is a very determined little girl and she was up until 11:15 when she fell asleep on the couch. We tried to put her to bed, but she asked us to wake her up at midnight. We said that we would try, thinking that she would be too tired to wake up. Oh no, she jumped up wide awake in time to welcome the new year. Heather was back home for the night with her mom and friends from school.

The little guys go back to school on Thursday, so I am doing mountains of laundry to get them ready. We are finishing out Aaron's and Alex's room tomorrow. We are down to one corner!!!

My New Year's wish for my family and friends: May the New Year be all that you need it to be, which is not necessarily what you ask for. May God be with you through it all and remember, I will always be here for you as well!

Coming Events: Jan.6: My birthday and my mom's
Jan.21: My nephew's birthday
Jan. 22: Clark's 40th!! Austin's B'day
Jan 28: Alex's 5th birthday
Feb. 2: Mom and Dad's Anniversary
Feb 6: Lauren's 7th
Feb. 9: My brother's b'day
Feb 14: Valentine's Day
Feb.26: My sis-in-laws b'day

In between all this, the kids go back to school, there are two holidays and a field trip or two.

I am a bit busy, but then so are the rest of you. That's no excuse!!! Get writing!
